Employees working outdoors are increasingly exposed to extreme weather conditions. To minimize health risks, the DGUV recommends long-sleeved clothing that protects against UV radiation, provides cooling, and ensures visibility through a warning effect in certain work environments. However, the current market only offers garments that cover one or two of these aspects. Many available solutions also prove impractical for everyday use or even contribute to additional heat stress.

This project aims to close these gaps by developing innovative, multifunctional outerwear that addresses all three requirements simultaneously. The goal is to create a cooling, UV-protective, long-sleeved T-shirt with integrated warning functionality, specifically designed to reduce overheating while offering reliable protection against harmful solar radiation. The garment will feature a modular design, enabling adaptation to different occupational settings and user needs by adding or removing functions. The design will be suitable for both men and women.

One of the central challenges lies in combining cooling, UV protection, and warning properties in a single garment without compromising effectiveness, as material and structural interactions can create conflicts. Overcoming this challenge will establish a new benchmark in textile safety, functionality, and comfort for outdoor workers. To validate performance, the project will conduct extensive testing and comparative studies across all key parameters.
